Daniel Boone is buried in Frankfurt, Kentucky, but do you know where his parents are buried and where he lived longer than anywhere else in his life?
It is a part of his life often skipped over and in a small town most people don’t know about nor have an excuse to visit.
If you guessed the small town of Mocksville in North Carolina; you’d be correct. Daniel Boone’s family moved to the Mocksville area and his parents, Squire and Sarah, stayed here until their death. Their graves are located in a small cemetery next to a shopping center named after Squire Boone.
The cemetery has several grave markers from the 1700’s still intact and somewhat legible.
To visit, locate the historical marker or Squire Boone Plaza shopping center off Yadkinville Rd. in Mocksville, North Carolina.
Go down the driveway until you get to a gate in the back of the cemetery. The grave site is straight ahead and there is a large information marker explaining the history of the family in the area.
How to Visit Daniel Boone’s Parent’s Grave
When planning a visit, make it during the Mocksville Daniel Boone Festival. They have bluegrass music, crafts, and historical tours of the cemetery and other Boone historical sites in the area.
